NorLOX contains acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid which is a potent inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX), the enzyme responsible for the production of pro-inflammatory leukotrienes. Acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid also prevents TNFa induced expression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and upregulation of adhesion molecules, both of which are involved in the movement of leukocytes to the site of inflammation.
